Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR)/Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR)

Revised March 2015

The Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer programs are set-aside programs (2.9% of an agencies extramural budget for SBIR and 0.4% for STTR) for small businesses to engage in projects that have the potential for commercialization. Scientific research relevant to NIDA's mission including SBIR and STTR projects is overseen by various NIDA Divisions whose scientific expertise ranges from neurobiological and behavioral mechanisms of drugs of abuse and the consequences of drug use to the service and prevention research.

Full program description, application resources and funding opportunities on the SBIR and STTR programs can be found on the NIH SBIR web site here:  https://sbir.nih.gov/nida/index
